The retirement of Barrister Farogh Naseem from the Ministry of Information earlier this week prompted Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry to announce on Friday that he would take on the additional duty of the Law Ministry.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan-MQM-P, which had previously been a member of the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan, has broken away from the PTI-led coalition and joined the opposition ahead of a no-confidence vote against Khan scheduled for November.
Haque, a member of the MQM-Aminul P’s, had also resigned from his position as federal minister for information technology and telecommunications, along with his colleague Naseem Ahmed.
If the MQM’s decision P’s are upheld until Sunday, when it is expected that the no-trust resolution will be voted on, Prime Minister Imran Khan would lose his majority in the lower chamber of parliament.
Speaking to reporters in Islamabad today alongside Energy Minister Hammad Azhar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill, Chaudhry said that upon taking over as law minister, he would approach the court to have the bail of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif revoked. Sharif is widely believed to be the front-runner to succeed Imran Khan as prime minister if the joint opposition’s no-confidence motion against the elected premier is successful.
His reaction was amused: “I am astounded that a person on bail claims to be a candidate for prime minister.“
Hamza Shehbaz, Shehbaz’s son, would also be a target of Chaudhry’s attempts to get his bail revoked, according to the report.
According to the government, the court would be notified as soon as tomorrow.
He further said that parliamentarians who have defected from the PTI and joined the opposition would be subjected to additional punishment.
Earlier this morning, the legal team got together and devised a strategy. “I want to bring this matter before the Supreme Court tomorrow, in accordance with Article 184 of the Constitution,” Mr. Singh told a press conference.
In his words, “We want the Supreme Court to look into how a foreign-drafted no-confidence petition was able to arouse the consciences of 22 people [who are PTI defectors] in an instant.“
In Chaudhry’s estimation, there are still 48 hours before the vote on the no-trust resolution, which means there is still time for a great deal to happen. He expressed trust in Prime Minister Imran Khan’s capacity to maintain his position as the country’s leader.
A foreign-led regime change in Pakistan would be unacceptable, according to him, since the people of Pakistan had “made a few million dollars here.
“
During the meeting of the National Security Committee, a document claiming a worldwide conspiracy to overthrow Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government was discussed, and Chaudhry claimed that the opposition was aware of the “plot” to depose Khan before it was made public.
He further said that “opposition leaders are also a part of this conspiracy.“
According to Iqbal, Asif, and Abbas, officials from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz -PML-N, particularly Khwaja Asif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, had suggested that the United States could resolve Pakistan’s economic problems.
After being queried about what would happen if the United States stopped supplying the “drips,” Chaudhry said, “They claimed that the United States had connected IV drips to Pakistan and asked what would happen.“
Individuals like you [PML-N leaders] have been foisted upon them by foreign [forces], and it is regrettable since Pakistan is such an honourable nation. Protests against conspiracies have been taking place all around the United States.
Dissident Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf-PTI members, according to Chaudhry, have started protests throughout the country “against people who have no conscience,” a reference to the opposition’s no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“Protesters [against defectors] should be applauded for their efforts. “We hold you in high regard,” he said.
Pakistan’s Energy Minister Hammad Azhar has said that a plot is in the works to establish a “government of foreign puppets” in the country.
In a statement, he declared, “I want to reassure my people that this will not happen.“
As Azhar pointed out, “experiments with placing puppets from outside the nation” had always failed and would fail again this time around, too.
Minister Hamad Stated Struggling Country’s Economy
His statement said that Pakistan and the country’s economy could not withstand the continuation of an opposition party’s tenure in power for another term.
According to Azhar, the expulsion of Pakistan from the Financial Action Task Force is expected to commence in early June.
In answer to a question, he said that the prices of fuel and electricity would not be changing in the foreseeable future.
In answer to another question, he also expressed confidence in the election of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab chief minister, which would take place tomorrow.
